"(A) book about Plupy, Beany and Pewt - 'the Terible 3' - growing up in Exeter, New Hampshire (over) a century ago - a good time and place to be young in. It is also about some disgruntled citizens whose cats were shipped off on the night freight to Haverhill; and old Billy Tilton who encountered a snapping turtle suspended on his front door; and the pious Mr. Barrows whose views about the reading of 'Wild Mag the Trapers Bride' were dark indeed; and the discomfiture of some overweight ladies when an eel attended the annual church picnic; and J. Albert Clark who became the unfortunate target of 'the Terible 3'. Plupy Shute could spell only an occasional word correctly, but he told what it's like to be a boy with accuracy, with humor, and some irreverent barbs at the pretensions of the adult world." Light wrinkling a the top/bottom of the spine, light edgewear, slight lean to the spine, some areas of light browning on the edges of the text block. Dust jacket has light edgewear/wrinkling, very light fading to the spine and flap-fold colour - now protected in removable mylar sleeve. Not Signed.
