Book
Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. London. The Penguin Group (Puffin). 1985. Eighth impression of this edition. Soft Covers. Standard paperback size. 159 pp. Cover artwork by Cathy Wood. In much better condition than would be expected for age with sharp corners and spine ends and no creasing to the covers. Just a faint hint of toning to the text block which is minor. Translated by Robert Baldick. Originally published in Paris in 1864. An adventurous geology professor chances upon a manuscript in which a 16th-century explorer claims to have found a route to the earth's core. Professor Lidenbrock can't resist the opportunity to investigate, and with his nephew Axel, he sets off across Iceland in the company of Hans Bjelke, a native guide. The expedition descends into an extinct volcano toward a sunless sea, where they encounter a subterranean world of luminous rocks, antediluvian forests, and fantastic marine life a living past that holds the secrets to the origins of human existence. Book is near fine. The covers will be protected with a new inert archival 100 micron sleeve which is removable. Please contact us if you would like any more information or additional images.
