No store stamps. --- --- THE EYE OF THE STORM --- Elizabeth Hunter, an ex-socialite in her eighties, has a mystical experience during a summer storm in Sydney which transforms all her relationships: her existence becomes charged with a meaning which communicates itself to those around her. From this simple scenario Patrick White unfurls a monumental exploration of the tides of love and hate, comedy and tragedy, impotence and longing that fester within family relationships. --- ORDINARY PEOPLE --- Beth, Calvin, and their son Conrad are living in the aftermath of the death of the other son. Conrad is overcome by grief and misplaced guilt to the extent of a suicide attempt. He is in therapy. Beth had always preferred his brother and is having difficulty being supportive to Conrad. Calvin is trapped between the two trying to hold the family together. . .See photos for additional content. . .

There is minor wear around the edges. Special issue on World Politics 100 Years After The Paris Peace Conference. This special issue includes information on the Paris Peace Conference, Versailles Treaty, International Organizations, International Law, Empires, Great Powers, Historiography, Hegemony, Wars, and International Prestige. This includes an article by Joseph S. Nye, Jr. Joseph Samuel Nye Jr. (born January 19, 1937) is an American political scientist. He and Robert Keohane co-founded the international relations theory of neoliberalism, which they developed in their 1977 book Power and Interdependence. Together with Keohane, he developed the concepts of asymmetrical and complex interdependence. They also explored transnational relations and world politics in an edited volume in the 1970s. More recently, he pioneered the theory of soft power. His notion of "smart power" ("the ability to combine hard and soft power into a successful strategy") became popular with the use of this phrase by members of the Clinton Administration and the Obama Administration. Nye is the former Dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he currently holds the position of University Distinguished Service Professor, Emeritus. In October 2014, Secretary of State John Kerry appointed Nye to the Foreign Affairs Policy Board. He is also a member of the Defense Policy Board. He has been a Harvard faculty member since 1964. International Affairs is one of the world's leading journals of international relations and one of the few to cover the entire discipline. Founded by and edited at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, it has been in existence for over 90 years and has become renowned for its academically rigorous, practitioner-focused scholarship. Over the years it has featured articles not only from many of the leading international relations scholars but also from those rising in the profession. This lively and provocative journal will keep you up to date with latest critical thinking on the key issues shaping today's world. Whatever your level and area of interest, you will find International Affairs readable, informative and stimulating. International Affairs is a 100-year-old peer-reviewed academic journal of international relations. Since its founding in 1922, the journal has been based at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs. It has an impact factor of 5.957 and a ranking of 6th in the world in International Relations journals, according to the 2021 ISI Journal Citation Reports. It aims to publish a combination of academically rigorous and policy-relevant research. It is published six times per year in print and online by Oxford University Press on behalf of Chatham House. In its 100-year history International Affairs has featured work by some of the leading figures in global politics and academia; from Mahatma Gandhi and Che Guevara to Joseph S. Nye and Susan Strange. The fall of the Soviet Union created a new geopolitical landscape, and in 1991 International Affairs published its first in a long line of articles seeking to understand the new reality: future Estonian president Lennart Meri's âEstonia's role in the new Europe'. In 1995, the 75th anniversary of Chatham House was commemorated with a special issue featuring reflections by Sir Michael Howard, Fred Halliday, Paul Krugman, Malcolm Bradbury and others. The 75th anniversary of the journal itself was celebrated in 1999. The political implications of the 9/11 terror attacks on the United States resulted in a response from the journal, with a special issue April 2002 titled âNew orders, new norms,'[19] which included an article by Joseph Nye.[20] Through commissioning targeted special issues, International Affairs has covered a range of disciplines; including topic.
