In every respect Lorimer took their work a step further and his translation represents the culminating achievement and pinnacle of this endeavour. His parents, his two elder brothers and his elder sister all demonstrated a strong interest in languages and Lorimer followed their lead, spending most of his life teaching Greek in the universities at St Andrews and Dundee and becoming Professor of Greek at St Andrews in 1953.'
