So war es Salomon beispielsweise als einem der wenigen Künstler vorbehalten, das Schloss Huis ten Bosch in den Niederlanden zu dekorieren. Jan hingegen wurde mit zahlreichen Arbeiten für höchste Stadtpolitiker beauftragt und avancierte schnell zum beliebtesten Portraitzeichner der Haarlemer Elite. Viele seiner Kunden ließen dabei biblische oder mythische Figuren mit in ihre so genannten »portrait historié« einfließen - ein Genre, in dem Jan zur Höchstform gelang. Die Ausstellung stellt beide Künstler sowie weitere Familienmitglieder ausführlich vor und beleuchtet ihre faszinierende Geschichte.
