Between Past & Future: New Photography and Video from China - Hardcover

Accompanying an exhibition of the same title, Between Past and Future: New Photography and Video from China will feature works by fifty Chinese artists, the majority of whom will be exhibiting for the first time in the Untitled States. It will provide the first comprehensive, interpretive study of a remarkable body of recent artwork. Often ambitious in scale and experimental in nature, these works reflect the turn toward media-based art that characterizes the "next generation" of younger Chinese artists. In addition to fostering a new understanding of contemporary Chinese art, Between Past and Future will also provoke fresh and timely insights into the dynamics of Chinese culture in the 21st century. The exhibition and its catalogue will open up vital new perspectives on China's continuing economic, social, and cultural transformation, and provide new insights into the increasing role played by China's visual arts within the global community.
