n is a site specific project for Gruinard by the artist Lloyd Gibson and Mark Little. The sculpture of an androgynous child has been created from smart materials. These Shape Memory Alloys respond to the fluctuations in local environmental temperature causing the surface of the sculpture to flex and pulse.
n is the reflection of a view of the body as a site of crisis, our relationship to the environment and our impact upon it.
Essays by Gibson and Little concerning the project are supported here by an accompanying CD-ROM and additional texts by Chris Hables Gray, Eugene Thacker, Jody Berland, Patricia C. Philips and Topher Dawson. This is a limited edition of 1900.
