Synopsis:
This work scrutinizes management issues such as the ability of employers to recruit the best people for their firms, the management techniques which motivate employees best and the importance of training to employee development. The 40 essays in this book are grouped into seven sections. Beginning with a look at the many myths concerning motivating a work force, the book then moves on to examine various fables surrounding training. Other sections discuss effective and ineffective methods of decision-making and selection. The concluding part looks at the role of business consultants, experts and gurus.
About the Author:
Adrian Furnham is Professor of Psychology at University College, London, UK. He is on the editorial board of a number of journals, has received many awards, and is recognized as the most productive psychologist in the world. He is the author of over 800 journal articles and more than 60 books, including successful, popular management books. He acts as a consultant to a number of multinational corporations. He has written regular columns in The Financial Times, Daily Telegraph and Sunday Times and is a frequent contributor to BBC radio and television.
