Teleworking - Softcover

"Teleworking" and "telecommuting" are words used to describe the whole range of work activities which are characterized by being carried out remotely from the normal place of work (other expressions such as "homeworking" or "networking" are also used.) The work carried out usually involves the electronic processing of data. The technology required to support teleworking and the related areas of teleconferencing and video conferencing has developed extremely rapidly in the last few years and the numbers of people involved in teleworking are showing a strong upward trend (estimates vary but the number of teleworkers in the UK is already believed to be well over 500,000). Although this is not in any way a technical book, adequate information is provided on telecommunications links and on possible hardware and software options. The text concludes with advice on how to put all the components together to provide a teleworked service, from business plan to service and maintenance agreements.
