About the Author:
Jan was an experienced and successful tutor and mentor of other writers, both in the UK and abroad. She was also the winner of the Guardian Award, the Observer Teenage Prize and the Angel Award for Fiction. She died in January 2006 in Oxford where she lived and will be sorely missed.
