Review:
Hares that high-five . . . snuggly koala bears . . . an appealing picture book that teaches children about relationships and provides positive reinforcement. -- Honolulu Star Bulletin, May 4, 2003
From the Author:
Originally, I wanted to title the book: "Just Kids: Cub Quotes, Duck Twaddle, and Birdbrained Balderdash!" But that didn’t go over so well with my editor. You’ve got to admit, it’s not easy to muster up a title for a collection of inspirational quotes and poems, comical wildlife photos, educational trivia and a smattering of silly stuff that’s in there just to make kids laugh. In this book—the first children’s book in my wildlife series—you’ll read snippets of text that encourage positive values, and you’ll see fascinating animal facts that caption each wildlife image . . . Did you know that a baby elephant sucks his trunk in the same way a human baby sucks his thumb? Did you know that one owl makes sounds like, "poop," "woodwhoohd," "zjuck," "oohwack," "kraihkkwahk," "seeh" and "zuihd"? (Have fun reading those to your children!) Want to guess how koalas cool themselves off when they get hot? They lick their arms, of course. World-renowned wildlife photographers shot the incredible, full-color photos on every page. If you’re looking for a book that combines laughter, life values and thought-kindling facts all with an appreciation for the awesomeness of nature, you’ve found it here!
