Review:
'Mesmerizing. Quindlen makes her characters so richly alive, so believable, that it’s impossible not to feel every doubt and dream they harbor . . . Overwhelmingly moving’ (The New York Times)
'Qualities and shades of love are this writer's strong suit, and she has the unusual talent for writing about them with so much truth and heart that one is carried away on a tidal wave of involvement and concern' (Elizabeth Jane Howard)
‘A breathtakingly moving look at a family’ (USA Today)
‘We are so lucky to have Anna Quindlen in our literary lives. With her big heart and her amazing humanity she reminds us all of our blessings’ (Alice Hoffman, bestselling author of The Dovekeepers)
‘Quindlen invests her tale with rare pathos and even rarer psychological acumen . . . the honesty of her storytelling is exemplary’ (Sunday Telegraph)
'Stunning . . . The matriarchal theme is at the heart of Miller’s Valley. Miriam pushes her smart daughter to consider college, and other women – a teacher, a doctor, a benefactor – will raise Mimi up past the raging waters that swirl in her heart’ (The Washington Post)
‘Quindlen’s provocative novel will have you flipping through the pages of your own family history and memories even as you can’t stop reading about the Millers . . . A coming-of-age story that reminds us that the past continues to wash over us even as we move away from the places and events that formed us’ (Chicago Tribune)
