Virginia Gonzalez, MPH, is a health educator and study coordinator at Stanford University School of Medicine's Patient Education Research Center. Virginia Niacif de Brey is a research assistant at the Stanford Patient Education Research Center, who collaborated in the development and writing of the Spanish Arthritis Self-Management Program. Kate Lorig, RN, Dr. PH, developed and directs the Arthritis Self-Management Patient Education Project at the Stanford University Arthritis Center. She is the coauthor of "Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions" and "Living Well with HIV & AIDS." James F. Fries, MD, is a professor of medicine at Stanford University, specializing in rheumatology. His books include "Arthritis," "The Arthritis Helpbook," "Living Well," "Taking Care of Your Child," and "Taking Care of Yourself."
