This Is Our Earth is a beautifully illustrated picture book about the earth. It is written on two levels so that it may be enjoyed by children of different ages. The simpler text is a poem that runs along the top pages, and the teaching text for older children runs along the bottom pages. The poem has also been set to music and can be found in the back of the book. This is a wonderful teaching tool for teachers and students studying the environment.

Laura Lee Benson has been writing about the world around her for as long as she can remember. She grew up in a home filled with pets and wrote stories and poems about nature and the animals that she loved. She earned her B.A. in psychology and is certified in early childhood education. Laura first became interested in writing for children when she sought to combine her love for children with her love for literature. Her first book, THIS IS OUR EARTH, reflects her concerns about the environment. She is an advocate for environmental issues and believes that it is important for today's children to take an interest in the future of tomorrow's world. Laura is a member of several environmental and animal welfare organizations. Her interests include writing, reading, and working with children. She currently lives in Maryland.
