There is a lengthy opening chapter on understanding the male body and while that may seem a little overlong, the diagrams offer some relief and it is interesting stuff in the main.

A survival guide to fatherhood merits a whole, albeit relatively brief, chapter and this revised edition also features an expanded A-Z of Common Health Problems in Men.

The back of the book includes a useful-looking glossary--which simplifies many of the medical terms--details on self-help groups and a list of Web sites about men's health, showing the book is up with the times.

But it does not attempt to take the place of your GP and in fact gives help on how you can be "making the most of your doctor."
