This exploration of the past provides an account of the main developments of world history from prehistoric times to the present day. The book's main part consists of more than a hundred articles and features, divided into six periods - the ancient world; other worlds; the medieval world; broadening horizons; revolution, industry and empire; and the modern world. Each article is self-contained, but "see also" panels enable the reader to follow themes of special interest.
