Overview of the book.
When it was first suggested to me that I write a biography on Don Imus, all I knew about the man was that he was a DJ of notorious repute. What the research revealed was a complex, fiercely independent man who defies easy labeling. The point of the book is to neither glorify or vilify Imus, but to try and offer the reader an understanding of who he is and how that led to where he is. Thanks to the cooperation of dozens of Imus' friends, associates and family members, I think the book succeeds in doing just that, as well as providing personal anecdotes about the I-Man - both funny and tragic - never before published. Plus, if I say so myself, it's a really good read.
