From the very first page that pictures a refrigerator filled with all kinds of milk products to the introduction of the My Pyramid site provided by the government this title encourages young readers to be healthy. Photographs throughout the book show young readers making healthy choices: Children can be seen sharing cheese snacks and yogurt snacks. Families are shown shopping together and making the healthy choices. School lunch is portrayed as offering different kinds of milk as well as cheese for sandwiches. The text is simple and easy to read. A glossary index and helpful Internet pages are included. Parents are a part of the fun when they share a taco meal with the children featuring milk cheese and sour cream. Throughout the text children are reminded to drink more milk. Multicultural images are also presented throughout the text. Other titles in the "Healthy Eating with My Pyramid" series cover fruits water grains snacks exercise vegetables and meat. This is an excellent introduction to healthy lifestyles for all early elementary school students. This would be a good choice for elementary science classrooms supporting the national science standards for nutrition and health.
