With this elegant and psychologically penetrating novel, Perabo invites readers into the world of Paul Tucker, a 12-year-old boy profoundly burdened by his family's rich tradition of conspicuous valor and heroism. Subtly heartbreaking and wise, The Broken Places is a masterful exploration of the precarious intersection of honor, duty, and family.

Review:
Fred Leebron author of "Six Figures" and "Out West" Susan Perabo's powerful new novel perfectly captures the onset of an age when you know what you want and aren't yet afraid to ask, when you understand too much and learn just how little you can do about it, and when the prizes of rescue and fame can astonishingly reveal and further fracture the conflicted broken places of the heart. This is a daring and intensely authentic book.
