The Cornell Book of Cats: A Comprehensive and Authoritative Medical Reference for Every Cat and Kitten - Hardcover

I met with my editor at Villard and convinced him that we should not rewrite the material in the way we originally planned or water it down in any way. Instead, I offered to define all the scientific terms that I as a cat owner did not understand and place the definitions in brackets next to the term. In addition, I offered to have the faculty prepare an extensive glossary of medical terms for the reader. My editor agreed and as a result we now have in print for the first time a truly unique medical reference work for all cat owners and cat lovers.

The book is understandable, easy to read, and yet makes available highly sophisticated medical information that has never been available before outside the campus of a good veterinary college. The book has total acceptance in the veterinary community, the community of serious cat breeders and exhibitors, and, most important of all, among all pet owners who look at it. Many cat owners give the book as a gift to their vets for their waiting rooms. I am extremely proud of this book and consider it a defining work in my long career which includes 23 published books. Dr. Jim Richards, Director of the Cornell Feline Health Center, worked extremely hard to revise the text this year and of course I worked with him. Dr. Richards added at least 30% new material as well as having most of the chapters rewritten to some extend. This book has set the mold for my other medical references such as "The UC Davis Book of Dogs" and "The UC Davis Book of Horses," which have similar formats with Consulting Editor Dr. Jeffrey Barlough of UC Davis.
