Deep in the Indian forest, two tiger cubs, Maya and her brother, are left alone in their den while their mother goes in search of water. Lurking nearby is a hyena and Maya is unaware of the danger. The story is of the tigers' fight for survival as they fend off the hyena until their mother returns to chase it away. The mother tiger realises that her young are about ready to face life in the wild. The story is set in a National Park in Rajasthan, and is based on observation of two real tiger cubs just two months old.

Theresa Radcliffe is a former primary school teacher. She has written several series of educational books and other successful wildlife picture books. Theresa lives in North Humberside.
John Butler is a part-time lecturer in graphic design and illustration as well as a freelance illustrator. He lives in Kent.
Two tiger cubs, little Hami and his sister, are left alone whilst their mother, Lakshani, goes hunting for food. A greedy hyena is lurking nearby and hungry, but Hami bravely fends him off until the return of Lakshani. Lakshani realizes that her young are ready to leave the den and face the wild.
