Why I chose weasels as my heroes and heroines!
Why weasels? Well, both weasels and stoats have always been the baddies in children's literature before now - especially in books like Wind-in-the-Willows, so I thought it was about time they had a chance to be the goodies. They are such beautiful creatures after all. They seem to flow over the ground when they travel. People rarely see them and think they are much larger than their actual size. The big guys are the martens, who have this wonderful creamy bib and fur which changes colour when the wind blows on it. Stoats, well, okay they're the badies here, but they're more humorous than evil. I really enjoyed writing about Sylver and his band of outlaws - especially Scirf, who became my favourite in the end - so I hope you like reading about them.
