Joseph Smith, Jr., is the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is regarded as a divine prophet and the translator ofThe Book of Mormon, having been given the divine gift of interpretation after he was led to the golden plates on which the book was written. He translated the book in 1829.
