Dr. Anne Vernon has recently taken a job as the only woman in an all-male prison. Her role there is twofold: She must cater to the physical well-being of the prisoners and also investigate their mental problems - a job description that is as challenging as it is dangerous.
Within minutes of arrival, the new doctor is thrown her first case: a suicide risk who has been charged with attempted rape of a schoolgirl.
