Told more as stories than history lessons, the biographies in the American National Biography, Supplement 1 recount the tales of people who have shaped America―leaders, composers, entertainers, entrepreneurs, writers, scientists, and outlaws. Each tale is written by an expert in the field and masterfully woven together to present the most accurate and up-to-date information.
As the first in a series of three supplements to be produced over the next three years, this volume extends the coverage from the original set, which ended to 1995, to 1999―including biographies that were added to the online version. With over 400 new listings, revised indexes of occupations and realms of renown, and bibliographies after each entry, the supplement continues the ANB tradition of reminding us of the stories of people who have meant so much to this country.
