From the Author:
How night comes in Little Donkey Close Your Eyes
I am Ashley Wolff, the illustrator of Little Donkey Close Your Eyes. The author, Margaret Wise Brown wrote many appealing poems and stories and I am one of the lucky illustrators who has been given the chance to reinterpret one of them as a picture book. In this book I was trying to create a slowly darkening landscape that will help ease a sleepy child into bed. The blue of the sky gets deeper and deeper as each little animal falls asleep. In each double-page illustation I've included a small human mother and child in their home as well. The artwork is done using linoleum block prints hand- colored with watercolor.
